46 new CRMA Strategic Projects
What the second round means for project finance
On 9 October 2026 the European Commission selected 46 new Strategic Projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act, from 102 applications across 16 Member States. Germany has eight; Italy has five.
The split matters: 19 recycling, 11 processing, 8 integrated and only 8 extraction projects. Together they cover 15 of the 17 strategic raw materials and are expected to need €21.1 billion of capital.
Strategic status brings faster permitting, financing support and help with buyers. It does not bring EU money. Each project still has to raise its capital on its own technical and financial case. The Commission plans a further call towards the end of 2026.
