Argentina's RIGI

Sixteen projects in, mining leads

The Régimen de Incentivo para Grandes Inversiones (RIGI) gives projects investing more than US$200 million thirty years of tax, customs and foreign-exchange stability.

By May 2026, 16 projects had been approved, nine of them in mining, including a lithium expansion at Cauchari-Olaroz in Jujuy and the San Jorge copper project.

For early-stage assets, the threshold is the point. A pre-drill lithium-brine property cannot use RIGI today. Its development plan should be sized and sequenced so that the build phase qualifies.
